What is the campaign about?

250 individuals are currently waiting to join Lumana’s program in rural Ghana–that’s 50 cooperatives who could benefit greatly from our business training and micro-loan program. In order to connect donors with entrepreneurs, we are launching our “Adopt a Co-op” campaign so these groups of women can borrow the money they need to better their lives.

How can I get involved in the campaign?

• Host a Dinner Party: Lumana supporters can host “Adopt a Co-op” themed dinner parties to raise funds and awareness.
• Make a Donation: We will also feature a cooperative each month on our website. By donating to a co-op, you can directly support a Lumana client with the business loan and training they need to succeed.
• Spread the word: You can help by sending a short message or link to interested friends and family.
• Make an impact: To talk to us about your interests, to obtain useful tools for joining the campaign, or to provide feedback, please send an email to adoptacoop@lumana.org or call us at 206.849.3113.

What will be the impact of this campaign?

• 250 new clients to take our business education classes and receive micro-loans in 2011.
• New loan products for existing clients who will be applying for new and larger loans
• By the end of August, we hope to raise $35,000 to provide $30,000 in loan capital to both new and existing clients, and $5,000 will fund Lumana operations on the ground in Ghana and in the US. These operational costs make these programs possible and offer opportunities for volunteers from across the world.

How will I know my donation has made a difference?

Each month, you will receive an update assessing the impact of the campaign and specific report detailing the progress of the co-op you supported.
